Transport (lovingly known as Phil, or Phil the Pill...or Big Phat Phil) is a 5-year-old gelding with good looks, a great brain and loads of personality. He is the kind of horse that wants to be in on the action - he will meet you at the gate and make you feel like the most loved person in the world, then will unpack your grooming tote, check your pockets for treats and pick up and play with anything within reach.
While Phil is a fast learner (he is great with vocal commands and picks up groundwork and games exceedingly quickly), he is a sloooow mover...as in he might be the slowest Thoroughbred I've ever ridden. While he is not well-suited to be an eventer, barrel racer or any other type of high performance equine athlete that requires a quick turnover of stride (like...a racehorse!), he would be fantastic as a low level hunter, trail horse, liberty horse or any other discipline that rewards a steady pace and floaty gaits.
Over the past year and a half, Phil has done everything from hunter-style flat work, including trot/canter pole work and small courses of jumps, to trail riding over a wide variety of terrain and natural obstacles. He hauls off-site regularly, loads easily, ties to the trailer for tacking, and is great off-property in new environments. He cross-ties, stands for mounting, lunges/long lines, etc. Phil is an easy keeper and is currently on 24/7 turnout (with a run-in shed) in a small group. He does well turned out with geldings, but would not do well in a mixed herd.
